The perfume rose (Rosa damascena) is one of the flagship sectors of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, in the Dadès valley around Kelaât M'Gouna. Over nearly 1,020 hectares, it produces some 4,800 tonnes of fresh roses each year.
Recognised nationally and internationally for its rose water, essential oil, concrete and all its derived products, the perfume rose holds major economic, social and environmental importance for the territory.
